is celebrated in the month of August and is also known as Coconut day.
This festival is dedicated to the god of sea,VARUN. Mainly this festival is
celebrated by the fishermen at the
end of the monsoon- the start of
the new fishing season. They
decorate their boats with colors
and flower garlands and offer
coconut to the sea. The fishermen
try to appease the sea god for
their safety and good fishing
business. They all sing and dance
on this day and prepare sweet
coconut rice for the day.
